The Art and Science of Building a Business (and Making It Work)
The Art and Science of Business Growth: Prioritize What Matters, Achieve What Counts
Recently, I spoke with an entrepreneur with big ambition.
For 2025, his goals are massive:
Write a book.
Deliver a TED Talk.
Triple revenue from 2024.
And more
All incredible aspirations. But here’s the thing: chasing everything all at once often leads to spinning wheels rather than real momentum.
The Science of Success
Every business has foundational principles. This is the science.
Systems need to work.
Revenue streams need clarity.
Strategies need prioritization.
When it comes to tripling revenue, it’s not a guessing game. You need data, clear goals, and a plan of attack that focuses on the right levers to pull.
The Art of Growth
But business isn’t just spreadsheets and formulas. It’s also an art.
Telling a story that connects
Building authentic relationships
Growing an audience that trusts you
Writing a book or landing a TED Talk can elevate your brand. But it’s not necessarily what will multiply revenue right now.
Prioritizing for Impact
When I spoke with this entrepreneur, I shared a simple truth: you can achieve anything, but not everything all at once.
If the #1 priority is revenue growth (tripling takes extreme focus), then that’s where the strategy and energy needs to go.
The TED Talk and the book? They can still happen. But not in Q1. Maybe not even in 2025. These are long lead items that take a lot of time to develop.
Success isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing the right things, in the right order at the right time.
What This Means for You
If you’re building or growing a business, ask yourself:
What’s the one goal that will make the biggest impact?
Which efforts align with that goal?
What can wait?
Because here’s the truth: The art and science of business aren’t about perfection. They’re about balance.
A Final Thought
You need the science: systems, strategy, data.
You need the art: creativity, connection, vision.
And you need clarity to execute with focus.
Because at the end of the day, nothing happens without action!
Speaking of clarity, I've been working on a sales course based on relationship selling because revenue growth starts with trust.
Stay tuned. More on that soon!
I've always loved being a part of something so much bigger than myself and I'm excited to be on this journey of personal and professional growth with you.
